Emanuel Mai races to the podium in Belgium
Mariembourg, Belgium – What a start to the new DKM season! On the technically demanding track in Mariembourg, Belgium, the Mach1 Kart Team impressively demonstrated its colors with its Zelos chassis – especially with Emanuel Mai.
Driving the number 417, Mai had a strong weekend and rewarded himself with a sensational 4th place in the final. He already made a name for himself with a 4th place finish in qualifying and confirmed his form with 4th and 2nd place finishes in the heats. Starting from 8th place on the grid, he plowed through the field with a clever race strategy and thrilling overtaking maneuvers – securing a top-5 finish right from the start. A statement.
Rouven Wilk (#413) was less fortunate: After a promising 3rd place in the superheat and 4th place in the first heat, he was on course for a top-5 result in the final – until contact with a spoiler penalty dropped him to 17th place.
Svenja Dreher (#453) impressed with a spirited performance: Despite a DNS in the superheat, she fought her way up from 34th to 13th in the final – a strong statement as one of the few women in the field.
For Erik Müller (#452), multiple OAKC winner, the race ended early after a collision at the start. Jelte Bouma (#454) had to battle through a mixed weekend with technical problems – a defective clutch and wheel rim. Sascha Dreher (#425) gained valuable experience as a rookie and finished 20th after a spoiler penalty.
Martin Hetschel (Mach1 Kart) was satisfied:
“I’m proud of the performance of our drivers and the equipment. The season opener makes me very positive – we’re ready for an exciting season. My thanks go to the entire Mach1 Motorsport – Wilk team, including all the mechanics and drivers.”
