Mülsen, Germany – After a strong season opener in Belgium, the Mach1 Kart x Wilk Motorsport team returned to home soil for the second round of the DKM Championship at the Motorsport Arena Mülsen. With six drivers competing in the fiercely contested DSKC shifter kart class, the team once again showcased the performance of the Mach1 Zelos chassis paired with powerful SRP engines – delivering high-paced action and plenty of drama.
Erik Müller (#452) delivered one of the most impressive comebacks of the weekend. After a dramatic Superheat – where a bold switch to slicks in drying conditions backfired due to a broken shift lever, leaving him stuck in first gear – Erik was forced to retire. Starting the Final from P24, he stormed through the field to finish in 6th place, just missing out on the podium. A heroic drive that underlined his speed and determination.
Emanuel Mai (#417) once again proved his pace. After qualifying P5 and finishing the Superheat in a strong P3, he started the Final from P6. Unfortunately, a front fairing penalty dropped him to P10 at the finish – a frustrating result, but a solid performance overall.
Rouven Wilk (#413) stood out throughout the weekend with consistently strong results. After ranking 2nd overall in the Heats, he started from pole position in the Superheat. In a tactical move that showed real team spirit, Rouven controlled the formation lap pace to allow teammate Erik Müller more time to bring his slicks into temperature – a brilliant strategic decision, streamed live on the DKM YouTube broadcast. Despite receiving a spoiler penalty and finishing P4 in the Superheat, bad luck struck in the Final with a Lap 1 collision that forced an early retirement.
Svenja Dreher (#453) continued to impress in her rookie DKM season. Despite setbacks that prevented a higher grid position, she delivered another determined drive in the Final – climbing from P22 to P12. A powerful showing that proves she belongs among the front runners.
Sascha Dreher (#425), also in his first DKM season, pulled off a sensational charge in the Final: from P36 to P17. The Dreher siblings clearly have what it takes to adapt quickly and compete at the top level.
Jelte Bouma (#454) was once again plagued by technical issues, following an already difficult season opener. However, he set the fastest lap time in the Superheat, underlining his raw speed and potential. A clean weekend will undoubtedly allow the Dutchman to shine.
Despite missing out on podium finishes due to several incidents, the Mach1 Kart x Wilk Motorsport team once again demonstrated great potential and race pace at Mülsen.
Martin Hetschel (Mach1 Kart) summed up the weekend with confidence:
“I’m very happy with the performance of our drivers. The fundamentals are there – with our material and the support of Wilk Motorsport, the drivers have what they need to succeed. I’m already looking forward to the next round in Ampfing. Huge thanks to all our mechanics and drivers for their hard work this weekend!”
