Mach1 Kart impresses at the RMC Open in Wackersdorf

As a season preparation for the ROTAX MAX Challenge Germany, the RMC Open started last weekend at the Prokart Raceland in Wackersdorf. About 120 drivers started on the 1.190km long track in Upper-Palatine for a first position-fixing. Eight Mach1 Kart drivers were also there and were able to highlight the efficiency of the German material.

Drivers and teams didn’t have easy jobs last weekend at the RMC Open in Wackersdorf. Mixed weather and temporary heavy rain made the events on the track very challenging. Markus Fester started under the direction of MF Motorsport. Kevin Kemmling and Niklas Bendfeldt started for the Rotax-Mach1 team Kartschmie.de. Mach1 factory drivers Pawel Myskier, Douglas Lundberg, Marco and Ronny Göttler as well as Cameron Boedler also didn’t want to miss this big event and went all-in.

Cameron Boedler started at the ROTAX juniors. The Linz resident made himself known to everyone early on by securing third place at qualifying in the strongly manned category. The Mach1 protégé didn’t have as much good luck during the following heats though. After ninth and twelfth places at the first two heats, Cameron gained a couple of positions during the finale again and drove forward to ninth place despite the difficult conditions in the rain.

Kevin Kemmling, Pawel Myszkier and Niklas Bendfeldt started at the seniors. Kevin Kemmling achieved the best start into the racing events. On the good 11th position, the Aachen resident qualified for the first ranked race. During the race, the Mach1 kart driver lost a couple of positions though and crossed the finish line on 15th, 14th and 23rd places.

Pawel Myszkier showed an impressive performance. While only coming in 18th at qualifying, the Pole then raced forward during the first race to seventh position. Pawel also succeeded during the second and third races and crossed the finish line on the great sixth position both times. Niklas Bendfeldt had a lot of bad luck. The Cremling resident entered the first ranked race on the 19th place and had to let two opponents pass him by then. After a collision during the second race, the kartschmie.de-protégé fell back to the end of the field and was only able to drive forward to 24th place during the final race.

Things got heated in the DD2-category. Mach1 factory driver Douglas Lundberg was among the front field during qualifying already. By achieving the second fastest time, the Swede once again highlighted the performance of the German quality material. There was no holding him back during the first race then. With the best time of the race, Douglas raced to victory in the rain. During the second following races things didn’t go completely according to plan anymore then. Nonetheless, Douglas showed a good performance by achieving sixth and tenth places.

Markus Fester’s performance was impressive as well. After 22nd place at qualifying, the Frankfurt resident improved his position during the first race to 16th place. During the second race, Markus ended up behind his own expectations on 18th place. The third race went impressively then: after field clearance, Markus showed one overtaking maneuver after the other and only ended his catching-up race by crossing the finish line on fourth place.

Marco Göttler qualified for the first race on 16th place. While being on 14th and 15th places during the first and second races, the Horb resident managed to enter the top ten during the last race and raced forward to the great sixth place. His brother Ronny had to deal with two fallings out and thereby didn’t get past 19th place in the end.

„With fastest lap times, very good performances during warm-up and qualifying as well as race victories, we have proven that our material works perfectly in all Rotax classes with MOJO tires – on a dry track as well as in rain. In the end it was only due to a little bad luck that the Mach1 drivers weren’t able to score higher”, said Martin Hetschel on Sunday evening. The team leaders of Kartschmie.de and MF Motorsport, Frank Hansen and Michael Fester, also commented: “We have an absolute top product with Mach1 and are starting confidently into the Rotax season. We were able to impressively prove that the material works well and we’re of course available to drivers who are interested in test drives.”

Mach1 Kart proves stability

Mach1 Kart at the Euro 6h endurance race in KerpenLast weekend 18 teams started at the first Euro 6h Rotax Endurance Race in Kerpen and experienced a completely new challenge. They had to pull through the long-distance race with uniformed chassis by German manufacturer Mach1-Kart. In the end, man and machine mastered the difficult requirements and turned the premiere into a real success.

With temperatures of more than 30°C, difficult circumstances awaited the drivers at the debut of the 6h-race on the Erftlandring in Kerpen. Mach1-Kart, Rotax, Mojo and the drivers were well equipped though and showed an impressive stability. Only two teams had to forfeit the race prematurely. „Of course we had to do some minor repairs, but these were quickly done“, Mach-1 Kart leader Martin Hetschel explained after the event.

The Rotax DD2-engines pulled through the 6-hour racing distance without any major problems. At the juniors, some replacings of chains had to be done in the meantime. The Mach1-chassis proved their stability as well and highlighted their quality „Made in Germany“. „We didn’t have to deal with any broken chassis or brake problems. In the end, all chassis would have been able to cross the finish line“, Hetschel rejoiced in the end.

Despite the long racing distance, there was always excitement on the tracks. Only towards the end of the race did the winning team Dobla Racing manage to break away a little. At the finish line, they were 7 laps ahead. Regarding the second place there was a real photo finish. Van Viet Racing crossed the finish line with a slight advance of four seconds in front of the Haribo Racing Team.

The junior teams did great jobs as well. After 408 laps and 6:01 hours all in all, the Captain Junior Team crossed the finish line in front of the Flower Power Team and N-TV mini.

But the 6h-race wasn’t a completely new experience for the drivers alone. Martin Hetschel also admitted to having been nervous before the start: “We have broken completely new ground with this event – therefore, I was a little nervous in the beginning. The fact that all karts could have reached the finish line does make me a little proud. In the end, the best lap times were only a few tenths of seconds apart. This proves a high quality and continuity of the teams and the materials used, namely Rotax, Mojo and Mach1. Additionally, I’d really like to thank the hosts, organizers and teams once again for the chance to be a part of such a high-class event. I’d also like to thank my members of staff, who have done great jobs throughout the past three days.”

After this exciting excursion, it’s now back to the usual business for Mach1-Kart again. The team will start at the next to last race of the German Kart Championship in Hahn in two weeks. They still have every chance of the overall victory in the top class with John Norris.

Numerous successes for Mach1-Kart

During the past weeks, Mach1 drivers started at lots of different races across Germany and Europe and achieved remarkable results.

Nicolai Hagenaes and John Norris got things started at the second event of the WSK Euro Series in Spanish Zuera. In gleaming sunshine, Norwegian Hagenaes drove his best race of the year so far. After a flat during qualifying, due to high commitment he managed to achieve entering the final race of the strongest European racing series during the Heats. During the finale, he once again participated in exciting duels and in the end finished on 27th place. Team leader Martin Hetschel was accordingly content afterwards: “To finish among the best 34 is already a strong achievement in this field. Nico is increasing his performance from race to race and I’m already very excited about the further development of the season.”

John Norris was less lucky. The fast Irishman gained a good starting position by coming in 21st during qualifying. Everything came at him thick and fast during the Heats though. Despite great lap times, technical difficulties slowed him down again and again, causing him to miss entering the finals for the first time this season. “It’s really disappointing. Regarding pace, we were able to be a factor front and center. We now have to carefully analyze how the fallings out could occur, to be able to improve in the future,” John Norris said fiercely.

A week later, Mach1 drivers were present at as many as three different locations. Nintendo Team Scheider driver Fabian Hellwig achieved a victory in the X30 junior class at the starting of the DMV Kart Championship. At the seniors, Niclas von Wendt-Pappenhausen landed on second place. Only a few kilometers away, the starting of the Rotax Euro Challenge took place in Belgian Genk. There, Mach1 Motorsport driver Maxi Fleischmann drove his first race using the new material and felt comfortable right from the beginning. During qualifying he wasn’t able to drive times due to a technical falling out and had to start the Heats from the last positions respectively. Because of three good results he then managed to improve his position from 55th to 23rd and immediately qualified for the finale. He finished this on 21st place and was content in the end: “The result is satisfying because this has been my first race after a longer break. We tested again on Monday and found a couple of tenth of seconds again, which causes me to feel confident about the coming races,” said Maxi Fleischmann. In Belgium as well, Julian Müller started at the X30 Challenge Europe in Mariembourg. The young man from Cologne held his own in the international starting field and just barely missed entering the finals as the second strongest German driver. During the b-finale he then managed to establish himself in the front field, but had to end his weekend prematurely due to an accident.

During the past weekend, Mach1 Motorsport started at three different races again. As many as seven Mach1 drivers wanted to go strong at the premiere of the German Vega Trophy in Hahn. Unfortunately, Julian Müller and Sebastian Schwendt had to cancel their appearances beforehand due to illnesses. Alexander Heil (X30), Lukas Korsch (X30) and Philipp Heim (X30J), as well as both Nintendo Team Scheider drivers Nick Hansen (X30) and Dominik Breier (KZ2) held the Mach1 flags high though. Alexander Heil drove his first race of the year and did a great job. In the end, he came in 4th and 5th during the finals. Philipp Heim achieved 14th place during qualifying and the pre-finale, was then involved in a collision during the second final though and had to end the race prematurely.

In Wackersdorf, old hands Toni Greif and John Norris started at the Kart-Trophy White-Blue in the shifterkarts class. Unfortunately, Toni had to park his kart during qualifying due to a technical defect and therefore had to start the first final from the last starting position. Toni then demonstrated his experience and fought his way forward up to 4th place. During the second final he temporarily even led the field, in the end came in second though, just barely missing first place. “My material worked perfectly and I’m happy about the great result, despite the unsuccessful qualifying”, Greif summed up. In the meantime, John Norris celebrated a premiere. He started with a shifterkart for the first time and felt very comfortable. After a short adaption phase, he already gave it his all during qualifying and finished on 7th place despite a membrane damage. He capped it all off during the races then and drove the fastest laps respectively. “It’s a very special feeling to drive a shifterkart. I got used to it pretty quickly though and am very content. Toni and I have demonstrated that our karts also work perfectly in this class,” said John in a good temper.

At his home track in Ampfing, Manuel Valier got in the mood for the starting of the German Kart Championship. At the starting of the Southern German ADAC Kart Cups, he set the pace in the KF2 class and didn’t give his opponents any chance for attacks. By achieving two victories, he laid a good foundation: “My competition was certainly not as strong as it will be at the DKM, but I now feel very well prepared nonetheless”, said Manuel.

On Thursday, the team will travel to the first big event of the German Kart Championship. The German Chassis manufacturer will be present in Ampfing with its drivers, a week later they will already travel to the WSK Euro in Genk and the starting of the ADAC Kart Masters in Hahn.

Mach1 Kart is poised for 2013

German Chassis manufacturer Mach1 Kart has used the short winter break wisely and is now able to present numerous improvements right on time for the start of the season. The team will be starting at all well-respected international and national racing series.

The year 2012 already was a special one for Mach1 Kart: with a new look, the traditional manufacturer managed to climb back to the top and secured the KF2 overall victory at the ADAC Kart Masters and the vice Championship title in the drivers- and team-ranking at the German Kart Championship. Thus, the Mach1 team belonged to the most successful teams in Germany and knew how to impress with their product “made in Germany”.

But the team surrounding team leader Martin Hetschel has not been taking a rest. During the past couple of months, the established Chassis-series FIA9 has been enhanced rapidly. The new Chassis come with a modified frame geometry, which offers a steadier drivability and responds to altered track circumstances more tolerantly. Additionally, there are two different frame severities. The model FIA9 A04 (Codename Asiatic Bear) is comparable to the 2012 version and ideal for the senior class. The FIA9 B04 version (Codename Angel Shark) is a new one: due to a softer crossbar, the Chassis is ideal for juniors or high grip conditions.

There is also a new technically and optically enhanced front-wheel hub with spoke wheel centers in two different lengths (Art. 2182 75mm und Art. 2183 95mm) for all models, as well as three different steering wheel diameters of the Mach1- Flattop-steering wheel: 320mm and 345mm for the FIA9 Karts, 300mm for the “Bambini”- and “Mini”-categories. The color of the frame is completely new. Fitting to the innovative glue set, the new models will be delivered in matt arctic white with fine structure.

The team will be starting at various top series: Mach1 Kart and their new race truck will be present at the CIK-FIA European Kart Championship, the WSK Euro Series, the German Kart Championship and the ADAC Kart Masters. Aside from the regular drivers, there are still free spots available. Mach1 Kart aces Rotax MAX Grand Finals

As sole supplier in the DD2 class, the German kart manufacturer broke new ground and was able to satisfy due to a high power density and quality “made in Germany”. After six exciting racing days, Canadian Ben Cooper crossed the finish line as the victor.

A huge challenge awaited Mach1 Kart at the end of the season in the form of the Rotax MAX Grand Finals in Portuguese Portimao. The manufacturer travelled to Portugal with a new racing truck and brought 80 brand-new Rotax DD2 Karts along with them. The great preparation of the team surrounding Martin Hetschel definitely paid off. The DD2-field was able to impress during free trainings already due to a high power density. During qualifying, as many as 40 drivers ranked within a second.

Fastest driver of the weekend was Canadian Ben Cooper: After coming in fourth during qualifying, he stormed to the front during the Heats and wouldn’t let go of his lead during pre-finals and finals. When crossing the finish line at the finals, he had an advance of close to a second and won ahead of Konstantins Calko from Latvia and Belgian Mathias Detige.

Mach1 Motorsport team leader Martin Hetschel was very content with the final week: “Everyone did an amazing job. Our karts worked perfectly and the drivers were thrilled with our product. We’ve received lots of positive feedback and are very happy to have presented ourselves so well in front of a wide international audience.”

To everyone who is interested: The world final karts are up for sale now. The new Mach1 DD2-Chassis is based on the successful Mach1 FIA9 model, has got a 30mm framework, two front stabilizers and sniper adjusters for caster adjustments. Additionally, an in-house developed HRP-2-two-cycle braking system with balance adjustment, a typical glue set (incl. floor panel decoration) and aluminium front-wheel hubs of the 2013 model top the kart off. These have been in use for a maximum of three hours, are generally overhauled and will be sold with exclusive accessories. These include a set of DWT magnesium-rims with used Mojo D3 tires (slicks), a set of HRP aluminium- rims with used Mojo W2 tires (rain), a Tillett T12 seat, a bench tested engine Rotax MAX DD2 and additional gear ratios. As is Rotax-characteristic, there is an additional 6-months-guarantee on the engines. If you decide to buy a kart until December 30th 2012, you can even receive the extended guarantee of 12 months.

After the exhausting world final, Mach1 Motorsport is already looking into the future now. In 2013, the team is planning to start at the Winter Cup in Lonato, the WSK Euro Series, the DKM, the CIK-FIA Kart European Championship and the national series ADAC and DMV. The team will be at all of these races with their new team truck and will try to cause quite a stir again. The German Kart manufacturer Mach1-Kart will be present at the Rotax Max Grand Finals and will be equipping the top category DD2 with uniformed chassis for the first time. At the world final, taking place from November 28th – December 1st at the Algarve Kartodrom in Portugal, more than 270 drivers from 60 nations will be starting.

For the 13th time already, the best drivers of the numerous national Rotax series will meet at the Rotax Max Grand Finals and fight for the well-respected titles over the course of five racing days. Engine manufacturer Rotax emphasizes equal opportunities and dictates unified karts for the various classes.

In the fastest class of the event, the MAX DD2, Mach1-Karts will be used this year for the first time ever. A big challenge for the manufacturer from Southern Germany: During the past weeks, 80 brand-new karts had to be constructed and completed. Additionally, the German Kart Championship finals took place, which Mach1-Kart finished as vice champion.

The efforts of the past weeks have been worth it for team leader Martin Hetschel though: “I’m proud to have mastered this challenge with my team. In our company’s long history, we’ve never equipped a class as sole provider. This is a great opportunity to present ourselves to a huge international audience. Rotax is creating something incredible here. The drivers come from all over the world and are competing with high ambitions. I’m very happy to be able to say that Mach1-Kart is a part of this mega event.”

In addition to grand racing action, Rotax is also providing a huge presence in the media. Next to numerous international journalists reporting on the races, all qualifyings, heats and final races will be broadcast live on the World Wide Web. Additionally, Rotax will be broadcasting a live-magazine every evening, in which the events of the day will be reported on and where people in charge, drivers and teams can have their say. “Being present in the media is very important to us. Our chassis will be visible on many pictures and therefore cause a huge interest for our product,” explains Martin Hetschel.

Qualifying took place on Wednesday afternoon and Martin Hetschel rejoiced: “In the end, 40 karts finished within a second – which in this top-class field proves that our chassis and the Rotax-engines are on an absolutely steady high level.”

On Thursday and Friday it will be decided at the Heats which 34 drivers will be fighting for the victories at the finals on Saturday.

The new Mach1 DD2 chassis now available!

Mach1 FIA9 DD2For the first time in the Rotax Grand Finals’ history, a German manufacturer will supply the chassis for this huge event held in Portugal (11/28 to 12/01/2012) this year. In that regard, Hetschel will bring out an evolution of the well proven Mach1 DD2 chassis, which is available from now on.

The new Mach1 DD2 based on the very successful FIA9 Kart suitable for KF, KZ and Rotax. The chassis is made from 30mm tubings, is equipped with two front torsion bars and Sniper Adjuster caster/camber kits. The own brand HRP brake system with adjustable brake balance and the fashionable Mach1 decal kit (with floor tray decal) is included as well as the Rotax rear protector. The completely race ready chassis is available from 7469€ (ex works, 19% VAT included). If you can wait until end of the year, you cab purchase a chassis from the Grand Finals at a very special price of 5595€. The used chassis were running max. five hours, will have a complete overhaul and exclusive accessories. These are one set of DWT magnesium rims (for slicks), one set of HRP aluminum rims (for wets), a Tillett T12 seat, a bench tested Rotax MAX DD2 engine and additional gears.

Mach1 Kart and the Rotax Grand Finals 2012 Great delight for Mach1 Kart. The German chassis manufacturer is providing the chassis in DD2 category for the Rotax World Final 2012 in Portugal and herewith takes a big step into the international market.
For years, the Rotax Grand Finals stands for the biggest karting event of the year and brings together the best pilots from all around the world. Mach1 Motorsport shows impressing weekend in Wackersdorf

The Mach1 Motorsport Team had a hard weekend. Two drivers started at the German round of the Rotax Max Euro Challenge in Wackersdorf and two more drivers went to the season opener of the German Karting Championship in Genk (Belgium). In the end the team showed on each place a great performance.

Randy Berglas bei der REC in WackersdorfAfter the season start in Genk, the German chassis manufacturer started for a second time with his drivers Randy Berglas and John Norris in the Rotax Euro Challenge. Berglas rolled in the junior class in the staring grid and landed in a rainy qualifying on the 18th place. But only a few minutes later followed a bat message for the Swiss talent. The team mounted his rain tyres wrong and Randy was set back to the end of the field. A little bit disappointed he showed three excellent heats and fought back to start position 24th for the first final race on Sunday. After position 6th in the warm-up on Sunday morning Randy was confident for the race, but in the first corner the Swiss had an accident and must retire. Teammate John Norris from Ireland had a similar spectacular weekend in the Rotax Max Senior class. After a good qualifying and three excellent heats John was as 27th direct qualified for the final races. As with his young team mate, John’s first race was finished after the start. An opponent transported him into the grass and he loosed his chain. In the second race John droved fast lap times and was at the end 16th.

Team boss Martin Hetschel was very happy with the results on Sunday evening: “After this spectacular weekend I am very satisfied. The drivers and chassis worked very well and we are the best placed German team.”

In the German karting championship the Danish drivers Martin Mortensen and Jannick Flygenring showed in their first KF2 races a good performance, too. On Friday the weather conditions were very difficult and the duo couldn’t collect important experience. In the races the two guys were very fast what gives hope for a positive season. Only some technical problems prevented a better position. Martin Hetschel knows that there is still some work ahead of them: “The weather on Friday cost us some test time. Martin and Jannie have less experience in the KF2 class and have to learn in the next races. We must analyze the technical problems and will start well prepared at the next round in Ampfing.”
