Mach1 Motorsport in Kerpen on DSKC top course

Rouven Wilk comes in a strong eighth place

Mach1 Motorsport celebrated the continuation of its good performances so far in the German Kart Championship last weekend. The championship was hosted at the Erftlandring in Kerpen to start the second half of the season and experienced a battle in the heat. Five Mach1 protégés went on the trip and held their own in particular in the DMSB Shifter Kart Cup. Rouven Wilk ended up in a strong eighth place.

After a five-week break, the German Kart Championship finally entered the next round last weekend. The traditional Erftlandring in Kerpen marked the start of the second half of the season. This meant that Mach1 Motorsport had to fight for important points for the championship again – and in three classifications.

Maxi Eigner took the wheel of his Mach1 kart in the X30 Juniors. The youngster was ranked 18th after qualifying, and was still in a position where he could improve. Unfortunately, the qualifying races did not go quite as the young racing driver wanted. A failure threw Maxi far back and ultimately meant starting position 29 for the final. But there he pulled it off again and managed to catch up well and make it into the top ten. A spoiler penalty meant he was ultimately classified 15th.

In the DMSB Shifter Kart Cup, Rouven Wilk underlined his ambitions for the top ranks with 15th place in qualifying. In the 39-strong field, the Baden-Württemberg driver was in a good starting position and knew how to implement it very well. After sixth place in the Super Heat, Rouven started eleventh for the final and finished it in an impressive eighth place.

Svenja Dreher caused great cheers at the start of the event. In qualifying, the young lady finished ahead of her teammate and topped the team’s ranking in twelfth place. Up until the final, Svenja also had a good chance of a top result. However, a failure dashed her hopes in the end.

As third in the group, Erik Müller also caused a stir. After a botched time trial, he was in 34th place, but the Dörentrup driver didn’t let anything go wrong and consistently improved. Erik put in a great performance throughout the preliminary rounds and ultimately came in eleventh in the final, just missing out on the hotly contested top ten.

Jelte Bouma was competing in the premier class of the DKM. The Dutchman was in 22nd place in qualifying. He continued to improve and finished in the points in 15th place in the final.

With several drivers on the road to success, team boss Ralf Wilk had reason to be happy that evening: “That was a good start to the second half of the season. Our pace was extremely competitive, especially in the DSKC. With a little more luck, we could have placed all three in the top ten. That makes us want more in the remaining two events. Thanks to our engine partner SRP and TR Motorsport for their excellent support.”

However, there is not much time to recover. The penultimate stop of the DKM is already on the agenda at the beginning of August. From August 9th to 11th, the next points in the top-class championship will be at stake in Arena E in Mülsen, Saxony.
