DSKC drivers shake up the field
The Arena E in Mülsen welcomed the drivers of the German Kart Championship to the fifth race of the season last weekend. 187 participants were at the start in high summer temperatures. The German kart manufacturer Mach1-Kart delivered its best performance of the season. Four drivers were at the start with the chassis.
Summer, sun and sunshine inspired the drivers with a Mach1 kart. The protégés set off in three classes and made several exclamation marks. The strongest field was waiting in the DSKC. 45 participants were at the start and demanded full concentration in the heats.
Rouven Wilk continued the good trend of the last few weeks. He got off to a good start with tenth place in qualifying and followed up in the heats. He finished fourth on Saturday evening and managed to jump to second place in the super heat. This put him in the role of favourite for the cup positions and he was in the mix at the start of the final. Intense fights characterized the 19 race laps, and in the end he finished a very good ninth. His team-mate Erik Müller landed directly in his slipstream. From 25th place in qualifying he only knew one way and ended up in the top ten.
In the X30 Junior, Maxi Eigner got to know the full rigours of motorsport. The youngster delivered a brilliant performance in the heats and finished fourth. But a technical problem in the super heat threw him back. As a result, he was only 24th on the starting grid for the final. He fought his way forward during the race and was already on course for the top five again. But a collision dashed all his chances and he was left empty-handed.
Last but not least, Jelte Bouma was represented in the DKM. The Dutchman fought for the chasing positions in the premier class and finished the weekend in Saxony in 21st place.
Team boss Ralf Wilk was very satisfied after the weekend: “We took a big step in the DKSC. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out in the end. The chassis were impressive in the warm temperatures and the high grip. A place in the top five would definitely have been possible in the DSKC and the X30 Junior.”
The final of the German Kart Championship will take place in Wackersdorf in six weeks.
