Mach1 Motorsport wins in Oschersleben

Mach1 Motorsport at the ADAC Kartmasters in OscherslebenThe second race of the ADAC Kart Masters couldn’t have gone much better for Mach1 Motorsport. In the Metropolis Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the team stood on the winner’s podium as often as six times and is now holding a double lead in the X30 senior class.

A difficult task awaited the team last weekend at the Magdeburger Boerde. Heavy rain, wind and cool temperatures dominated the event and demanded a lot from the drivers, mechanics and team members.

The team from Brackenheim kept their chins up though. The drivers got in on the forefront of their respective classes during qualifying on the dry track already. Fastest driver was Julian Müller at the X30 seniors. The young driver from Cologne achieved a perfect starting position for the following Heats by ranking third. During the Heats, he continued his successful run and secured pole position for the first final on Sunday. Right next to him, his team mate Alexander Heil was able to take second position. Sebastian Schwendt showed a great catching up race: After ranking 30th during qualifying, he gave it his all during the Heats and was on the overall 9th position on Sunday morning. Baldur Bahn entered the finals as well, on 26th place. Jan Jesse and Tim Linden had less luck: they missed entering the finals by coming in 35th and 40th respectively.

The first race was dominated by a great fight in the front field. Julian Müller drove right at the front, behind him Alexander Heil and Sebastian Schwendt put up a fair fight. The duo changed their positions numerous times, Alexander Heil then prevailed at the finish line and stood on the winner’s podium on third place, Alexander Heil followed on fourth. Julian Müller was in his element during the second race as well. The driver from Cologne controlled the pace at the front and secured an impressive double victory in front of Alexander Heil. The duo is now setting the tone on the overall list of rankings as well. Alexander Heil is holding the first position in front of Müller. Sebastian Schwendt on the other hand had lots of bad luck: after his catching up races during the Heats and the first race, he had to deal with a falling out during the second. Baldur Bahn even missed finishing twice.

Manuel Valier entered the KF2 as a soloist and could always be found among the top five throughout the entire weekend. He finished qualifying on fourth place, both Heats on third place and was therefore able to start into the first final from second position. Things got heated during the race then. Like pearls on a string, four drivers fought for the victory and made for a heart-stopping finish. At the finish line, Manuel came in second. The second final went a lot more calmly. Manuel kept his second place from the beginning and was therefore able to collect important Championship points. On the overall list of rankings, he’s in close distance to the leading drivers, on fifth place.

Tim Schröder drove at the ADAC Kart Masters for Mach1-Kart for the first time. In the fully manned shifterkart class KZ2, he was on 18th place after the Heats. Unfortunately, he was involved in a collision during the first final and therefore had to do without starting at the second race.

Team leader Martin Hetschel was more than content after these successful racing days: “The weekend couldn’t have gone any better. We set the pace at the X30 seniors on the dry as well as wet track and are now leading the overall list of rankings. Manuel was also very successful at the KF2. Our Chassis has worked perfectly again and I’m looking forward to the upcoming races.”

Mach1 Motorsport will already be attending their next race with drivers John Norris (KF) and Nicolai Hagenaes (KFJ) next Wednesday. The WSK Euro Series’ final will be taking place in Belgian Genk.

Mach1 Motorsport starts into the DKM season with a second place

John Norris at the DKM in Ampfing with Mach1 MotorsportAfter gaining the vice Championship title last year, the German chassis manufacturer Mach1 Kart wants to reach for the crown this year. The kickoff in Ampfing already went very successfully and the team is currently on second place on the overall list of rankings.

Everything is going in quick succession for the Mach1 Motorsport team. After appearances at top-class races in Belgium, Italy and Spain, it now became serious on home ground as well. The German Kart Championship’s kickoff took place in Bavarian Ampfing and four drivers started for the Mach1 Motorsport team. Factory driver John Norris was the fastest driver right from the beginning. He drove the sixth fastest time during qualifying and ended up on seventh place after the Heats. He showed a great catching-up race during the first race then. From the start, he fought his way past his strong competition and managed to jump to second place after 24 laps. “This was a great race for us. The kart worked perfectly and perhaps even more would have been possible,” said Norris at the finish line. During the second race, he unfortunately wasn’t able to tie in with his great performance of the same morning. John had to fend off hard attacks from his opponents and fell back to seventh place. Nonetheless, he defended his second place in the Championship ranking and did justice to his role as a favorite. Manuel Valier proved to be in top shape during his home race as well. The Munich resident impressed by coming in fifth during the Heats and managed to tie in with this performance during the finals. By coming in tenth and twelfth, he belonged to the fastest German drivers and is currently on seventh place on the overall list of rankings. Marco Forrer on the other hand had some bad luck. The Swiss was on the same level as his team mates but was involved in several accidents during the races and was therefore stuck in the chasing field. Team leader Martin Hetschel was quite content with his team’s performance: “Of course it could always be better. Our material has worked very well though. Our work of the past couple of months is obvious and it’s great to work with this team.”

Young Norwegian Nicolai Hagenaes managed to continue his positive trend of the past weeks. During his first race on the challenging 1.063m track, he became faster and faster and started into the first final on Sunday from 21st place. He gained a couple of positions during the starting phase already and established himself in the chasing field. At the finish line, Nicolai came in on the great twelfth place. He managed to gain one more place during the second race, which enabled him to collect his first Championship points. “Nicolai keeps improving himself. He learns quickly and is very good at adjusting to new requirements. By achieving 11th and 12th place he has exceeded my expectations,” Hetschel praised his youngster.

Next weekend the team will already be travelling to their next race. The kickoff of the ADAC Kart Masters will take place on the Hunsrückring/Hahn and Mach1 Motorsport will be there with more than ten drivers. At the same time, John Norris and Nicolai Hagenaes will start at the second ranked race of the WSK Euro Series in Sarno.

Mach1 Kart again internationally successful

Mach1 Motorsport again very successful in international kart racingWith the beginning of the WSK Euro Series in LaConca and the Tropheo Andrea Margutti in Lonato, Mach1 Kart visited two top-class international events during the past weeks and didn’t have to hide behind their strong competition. In the end, the German Chassis manufacturer established itself in the top five.

Stressful weeks lie behind the Mach1 Motorsport Team. They were guests at the beginning of the WSK Euro Series in LaConca, taking factory driver John Norris and young Norwegian Nicolai Hagenaes with them. After his great performance at the Lonato Winter Cup, Irish Norris was able to tie in with this achievement in South Italy and established himself in the front midfield of the strongly contested KF-category from the beginning. Finishing qualifying on 39th place, he improved his position during the Heats up to 18th place and thereby managed to enter the finals directly. After a falling-out, he had to finish the pre-final prematurely though. The finale went considerably better then: From the end of the field, he fought his way forward to the impressive 19th position. His team mate Nicolai Hagenaes started at the juniors and was able to gain international experiences once again. After finishing qualifying on 52nd place, he got faster and faster during the Heats and improved his performance significantly. On Saturday evening, the Norwegian was on the great 29th place and therefore had every chance to gain entrance to the finals during the pre-final. Unfortunately, due to the quarrels in midfield, he lost valuable positions and missed qualifying for the finals in the end. Team leader Martin Hetschel was very content nonetheless: “Both of them have shown great performances. John was fast as usual and made a name for himself in this strong field. I was especially excited about Nicolai’s performance; he’s learning very quickly and has done quite a leap throughout the past weeks.”

Only a couple of days later, the team started at the next race. On the South Garda Circuit, the 24th edition of the Tropheo Andrea Margutti took place. John Norris belonged to the fastest drivers of the KF once again and emphasized that the current Mach1 Chassis is a true allround talent. Under most diverse track conditions, it provides the best possible performance for the driver and therefore plays a big part in the success. Norris had a great start by finishing qualifying on 8th place and was very fast during the Heats as well. He started into the pre-final on Sunday morning from 11th place. Unfortunately, a falling-out during this race threw him back considerably; he then had to prematurely quit the race due to an accident that wasn’t his fault. He then left his mark on the finale though. From the last starting row, he fought his way forward through the strong field with top times and came in on the sensational 5th place. “What a race,” rejoiced Martin Hetschel at the finish line. “John drove as if he’d been unchained, our Chassis worked perfectly, without the incident during the pre-final, we could have driven for the overall victory.” Norris’ team mate Lucas Speck also started. The reigning ADAC Kart Masters-Champion gathered momentum quickly after his winter break and entered the finals too, after coming in 3rd at the repechage. He finished these on 26th and 22nd place respectively.

Next to the two strong KF-drivers, Toni Greif also started in Lonato, at the shifter karts. Just like Lucas Speck, this was the first race of the 2013 season for Greif. Unfortunately he lagged behind the front drivers by important tenths of seconds during qualifying. He then gathered momentum during the Heats and the repechage and finally managed to enter the finals on 33rd place. He gave it his everything during these then and finished the big final on 21st place.

Martin Hetschel experienced these weekends as proof for his team’s good work: “I really have to praise everyone. All of them have worked really hard and made it possible for us to stand here like this. Our Chassis works really well, I can hardly wait for the start of the season in Germany.”

Before it’ll get serious on native ground, the team will first drive to the second ranked race of the WSK Euro Series in Spanish Zuera.

Mach1 Kart is poised for 2013

German Chassis manufacturer Mach1 Kart has used the short winter break wisely and is now able to present numerous improvements right on time for the start of the season. The team will be starting at all well-respected international and national racing series.

The year 2012 already was a special one for Mach1 Kart: with a new look, the traditional manufacturer managed to climb back to the top and secured the KF2 overall victory at the ADAC Kart Masters and the vice Championship title in the drivers- and team-ranking at the German Kart Championship. Thus, the Mach1 team belonged to the most successful teams in Germany and knew how to impress with their product “made in Germany”.

But the team surrounding team leader Martin Hetschel has not been taking a rest. During the past couple of months, the established Chassis-series FIA9 has been enhanced rapidly. The new Chassis come with a modified frame geometry, which offers a steadier drivability and responds to altered track circumstances more tolerantly. Additionally, there are two different frame severities. The model FIA9 A04 (Codename Asiatic Bear) is comparable to the 2012 version and ideal for the senior class. The FIA9 B04 version (Codename Angel Shark) is a new one: due to a softer crossbar, the Chassis is ideal for juniors or high grip conditions.

There is also a new technically and optically enhanced front-wheel hub with spoke wheel centers in two different lengths (Art. 2182 75mm und Art. 2183 95mm) for all models, as well as three different steering wheel diameters of the Mach1- Flattop-steering wheel: 320mm and 345mm for the FIA9 Karts, 300mm for the “Bambini”- and “Mini”-categories. The color of the frame is completely new. Fitting to the innovative glue set, the new models will be delivered in matt arctic white with fine structure.

The team will be starting at various top series: Mach1 Kart and their new race truck will be present at the CIK-FIA European Kart Championship, the WSK Euro Series, the German Kart Championship and the ADAC Kart Masters. Aside from the regular drivers, there are still free spots available. Interested drivers can call Martin Hetschel directly or are very welcome to visit the manufacturer at the international Kart trade fair in Offenbach on the Main in the atrium (A2A1-07) next weekend.

DKM Genk: Double victory and vice championship title for Mach1 Kart

John Norris achieved a sensational double victory and thus secured the vice championship title in the first league of German kart racing. Lucas Speck (DKM) and Cedric Piro (DJKM) knew how to satisfy as well.

Consisting of 150 participants, the German Kart Championship’s field was strongly manned at the finale once again. The racing conditions were not easy though, especially on Saturday. Heavy rain caused chaos throughout the fields and called for highest concentration on the drivers’ part. John Norris seemed to be in his element though and, after coming in 15th during qualifying, fought his way forward during the Heats to 4th and 8th positions. All in all, he thereby achieved 7th starting position for the first final race. On Sunday, the 1.360m track had completely dried and from time to time, the sun even shone through the clouds. John achieved a good start and established himself in the top three from the beginning. Throughout the course of the race he achieved a higher speed than all of his competitors and took the lead at halftime. He managed to defend this position until the finish line. This triumph meant the first DKM victory in John’s career and caused applause from team leader Martin Hetschel: “An amazing race, the kart worked perfectly and John did a great job. Hopefully, we’ll manage to repeat this during the second race.”

Due to his victory, John still had the chance to gain the vice championship title – right before the finale he only had a deficit of six points. “The first race went without any problems, now I’ll try to win the second one as well”, said the Irishman confidently – and he kept his word. John achieved a perfect start and held his competitors at bay throughout all of the 19 laps. At the finish line, the double victory was in the bag and in addition, John was certain to be the vice champion of the German Kart Championship 2012. The elation at the award ceremony was correspondingly huge: “Perfect, everything worked so well throughout the second final. My chassis’ performance was steady without exception and is a huge part of this success. A big thanks to Mach1-Kart for the great cooperation and the continuous development throughout the course of the year.”

Lucas Speck started in the DKM as well. Having already achieved the ADAC Kart Masters title, he wanted to prove his talent in Genk as well and already showed a fast performance in the rain on Saturday. Unfortunately, a falling out during the second Heat caused him to fall back on 21st starting position for the first final race. During this, he fought his way forward to 16th position and additionally achieved 14th place during the second final. Therefore, Lucas ended up fifth-best German driver and just barely missed placing in the top ten by ending up on 11th position of the overall list of rankings.

Cedric Piro with Mach1 KartAt the juniors, Cedric Piro experienced a turbulent racing weekend. After the free trainings and qualifying, the mood in the Saarland citizen’s camp was still good. Cedric achieved a solid 11th place. A falling out in the first Heat turned the tide though. By coming in 12th during the second Heat, he was only on 29th place in the end and had to qualify for the finals at the repechage on Sunday morning. This started pretty tumultuously and Cedric only drove on 7th position in the beginning. During the course of the race he gained a couple of positions though and qualified himself for the final races by coming in 4th in the end. From the next-to-last starting row, he then fought his way forward as if he’d been unleashed. Throughout the 16 laps, Cedric passed one opponent after another and finally crossed the finish line on the great 11th place. He then did even better during the second final race – despite another starting accident Cedric managed to achieve 8th place. This was then also his position in the overall list of rankings.

Team leader Martin Hetschel was hardly able to stop smiling in the evening: “What can I say? It’s been a successful racing day for Mach1 Motorsport. All three drivers were on a competitive basis and John has highlighted our chassis’ potential with his victory. After already having won the ADAC Kart Masters, this vice championship title is the second huge success for our team this season. A big thanks to all the drivers, mechanics and partners for their loyalty and support.”

In three weeks, a very special race abroad will be on the German manufacturer’s calendar: The team from Swabia will be travelling to Bahrain for the finale of the U18 World Championship.

Mach1-Kart impresses at the WSK Final Cup

Last weekend, Mach1-Kart factory driver John Norris started at the WSK Final Cup in Italian Castelletto Di Branduzzo and was able to satisfy in the strongly manned KF2 class. In the end, he lacked the necessary ounce of luck though. The team additionally started at the KTWB in Wackersdorf and achieved two daily victories.

The WSK Final Cup marked an international top event in the racing calendar at the end of the season once again. Mach1-Kart was represented in the KF2 and managed to stand their ground against the strong international competition. At his debut in World Series Karting, factory driver John Norris was able to drive as fast as the top drivers from the beginning and highlighted his performance by sensationally coming in third during qualifying. “Everything’s going perfectly so far. Our material is on a very competitive basis and I’m excited to see how we’ll do in the Heats”, said John confidently.

In addition to great ninth and fourth places during the Heats, Norris unfortunately also had to register a falling out after an accident, which made him fall back to eleventh place in the overall list of rankings. In the turmoil of midfield, he then fell back a couple of positions during the starting phase again and only made it out of the first lap on 25th place. Until crossing the finish line John managed to fight his way forward again though and came in 17th. The finale began much better then; the Irishman had gone up to 11th place after only a couple of laps and was heading for the top ten. But towards the middle of the race his engine power decreased considerably and he had to forfeit the race five laps before the end. Despite the disappointment regarding the premature falling out, in the end the joy about the great performance despite such strong competition prevailed: “In the WSK everyone drives very tough, but fair. The level of performance is correspondingly high and one cannot afford to make mistakes. I’m all the more glad that we were able to drive in the forefront. Unfortunately the technical defect prevented us from achieving a countable result in the end.” Team leader Martin Hetschel was also able to draw a positive conclusion: “I think we can be very content with our first WSK-performance. We did a good job and managed to impress on an international scale once again. Our chassis worked perfectly under high grip-conditions and we belonged to the fastest drivers throughout the races.”

Toni Greif with Mach1 Kart at the KTWBAt the same time the finale of the Kart-Trophy White-Blue in Wackersdorf paralleled the WSK Final Cup. There, Toni Greif (KZ2) and Simon Wagner (Rotax DD2) started in Mach1-Karts. Greif, who finished the ADAC Kart Masters-season on fifth place, achieved the daily victory in the shifter kart field consisting of 25 men by coming in first and second. Simon Wagner also experienced a successful weekend. The youngster started with the Mach1 Rotax DD2 Grand Final-chassis and achieved a daily victory as well.

In a few days, the German chassis manufacturer will already be travelling to their next race in Belgium. The finale of the German Kart Championship will be taking place there and John Norris still has the chance to achieve the vice championship title at the highest German Kart rating.

Mach1 Motorsport achieves ADAC Kart Masters title

Lucas Speck at the ADAC Kart Masters with Mach1 KartIt’s been a successful ADAC Kart Masters season for the German chassis manufacturer Mach1-Kart. Apart from Lucas Speck’s KF2-championship title, the team was also able to place drivers in the top five of the KF3, KZ2 and IAME X30. At the finale in Wackersdorf, they achieved an additional double victory in the IAME X30.

Team leader Martin Hetschel was very excited about the finale of the ADAC Kart Masters at the Prokart Raceland. With Lucas Speck (KF2) and Cedric Piro (KF3), two drivers were standing chances to gain their classes’ championship titles.

The Saarland citizen Cedric Piro got off to a good start: After ranking 14th during qualifying, he improved his performance during the Heats and gained 7th starting position for the first final. During this he experienced a setback though. Cedric was involved in an accident right after the start and fell back to the end of the field. Due to a proper amount of fury he wasn’t willing to give up yet and fought his way forward to 15th position. Even though his dream of winning the title was over, he still wanted to give it his all during the second final and just barely missed placing on the podium by coming in 4th. He thus finished the championship on the great fifth place. Norwegian Nicolai Hagenaes also had a good run: during his second event in Germany, he was able to drive in the front of midfield and came in 12th during the first race. The only drop of bitterness came during the second final, where he had to forfeit the race during the first lap.

Since the second race of the season in Ampfing, Lucas Speck had been leading the overall list of rankings in the KF2 and was not willing to give up his position during the finale in Upper Palatine. He started the races in highly motivated and was among the fastest drivers once again. He presented a clever driving style during the races and didn’t take high risks. He drove in the front field and sealed the deal by coming in 3rd and 4th. With an advance of 13 points, he was the overall winner of the KF2. “Lucas deserved to win,” praised team leader Martin Hetschel his young driver. “We would have been able to win these races as well, but the title was most important”, continued Hetschel. Teammate Manuel Valier was in his best form as well and also established himself in the front field of the strongly manned KF2. In the end he came in 5th and 6th, reaching 4th place in the overall list of rankings.

Five drivers started in the IAME X30 for the manufacturer from Swabia. Alexander Heil was unstoppable this time. After ranking 2nd during qualifying, he really improved his performance even more during the races and held his entire competition at bay due to strong maneuvers. He earned a lot of praise for achieving a double victory and was able to defend his third place in the overall list of rankings. His four teammates Jan Jesse, Baldur Bahn, Lukas Korsch and Sebastian Schwendt fought some enthralling battles in midfield and were able to achieve top ten rankings. Sebastian Schwendt did particularly well: during his first participation in the senior class he made do with the new material perfectly and was able to collect championship points right away.

Toni Greif fought for the vice-championship title at the shifter karts. He got off to a good start by ranking 7th during qualifying and was able to defend this position during the Heats. It went down to business during the races then. Toni temporarily drove on 3rd position, but an opponent’s strong attack made him fall back to 6th place during the first race. He then came in 8th during the second run and thus placed 5th in the overall list of rankings, just nine points behind the second winner.

Team leader Martin Hetschel was very content in the evening: “Without our hard work during the past three years we wouldn’t be where we are today. Our chassis work under the most diverse conditions and our drivers are able to skillfully play out the performance. By achieving a championship title and four placements in the top five we are one of the most successful teams of the championship. I’d like to thank all of our partners, especially Blanken Tuning (KF engines) and DS-Kartsport (X30 engines), for their outstanding support and am now excitedly looking forward to the German Kart Championship finale.”

This will take place in three weeks in Belgian Genk. Mach1 Motorsport is currently ranking 3rd with driver John Norris.

Mach1 Kart on the DKM-podium once again

John Norris with Mach1 Kart at the DKM HahnNot even the Summer heat could slow down the Mach1 Motorsport team last weekend. At the fourth event of the German Kart Championship, the chassis manufacturer fought for places on the podium in the DKM and is now aiming for the vice-championship with John Norris.

Temperatures of 35°C and up made for hot circumstances on the 1.375m track in the Hunsrück. From the beginning, Irish factory driver John Norris was among the top drivers in the DKM and was able to start into the first race from fourth position, after coming in 4th twice during the Heats. Norris started perfectly and gained the lead after only a couple of meters. He wasn’t able to bear up against the pressure of his opponents though and temporarily fell back to fourth place. Norris kept cool nonetheless and fought his way back to second position. “What a race”, rejoiced team leader Martin Hetschel after the race. Lucas Speck rounded off the success. Achieving eighth rank, he was the most successful German driver in the DKM field. During the second race, the inferior outer track caused Norris to lose important positions, but he managed to fight his way forward again during the 18 laps and was able to seize 4th position on the home stretch. In the overall list of rankings he is currently on third place and still even has the chance to achieve vice-championship at the season finale in Genk. Team mate Speck had some bad luck this time: after a skirmish at the start he only came in 23rd.
At the juniors, Cedric Piro experienced a weekend of ups and downs. After coming in 10th at qualifying and even 6th during the Heats, he had to park his kart in the off before the second race had even started. He was thus only 33rd all in all and had to try qualifying for the finals in the repechage. Possessing the necessary professionalism, he did not risk too much during the race and managed to reach the finals by coming in 3rd. From the back of the field he proved his talent for driving. Due to skillful maneuvers he passed by his opponents and finished 17th and 10th respectively. Thereby he collected valuable championship points and still has the chance to place in the top ten in the overall list of rankings. Johan Nicolai Hagenaes broke new ground by starting in the DJKM for the first time, but unfortunately had to bow out after the repechage.
Martin Hetschel was very happy about his drivers’ successes in the evening: “The asphalt was burning during the races and our Mach1 chassis has done a great job. We’ve been competitive at any time and our drivers’ tires bore up. John has even managed to collect leading kilometers in the DKM and is now aiming for vice-championship.”
The team will travel to the next race in France next weekend already. The second event of the U18 world championship will take place in Angerville.

Mach1 Motorsport experiences a mixed European Championship final

Mach1 Motorsport at the CIK/FIA KF2 EMThe CIK-FIA Kart European Championship final at British Brandon was a difficult one for the Mach1 Motorsport team. The German manufacturer’s chassis was once again able to satisfy on changing grip-conditions, but in the end various impassabilities caused them to miss entering the finals.

After a successful opening of the European Championship at German Wackersdorf, John Norris shot for a top ten position on the challenging PF International Circuit inBrandonalso. The mood was very good after free trainings. John quickly got comfortable on the track and his lap times promised a successful run throughout the three racing days. The disillusionment followed during qualifying though. Due to heavy rain and difficult track-conditions, the Irishman was not able to drive a fast lap and was only ranked an unsatisfying 53rd. Thus he had to start all of the five Heats from the conceivably bad ninth starting row. Despite heavy fights and collisions in midfield, John was able to set emphases by coming in 4th, 10th and 12th. Unfortunately, in the end two fallings out due to a collision and an engine defect earned him too many penalty points. The Mach1 driver was ranked 45th on Saturday evening and thus missed entering the finals. The team’s disappointment was understandably high: “John did not give up and was able to motivate himself anew for every race. Unfortunately it is very difficult to pull through a race without any accidents when starting from the back of the field. We will now try to end the weekend with a positive result in the B-finals,” explained team leader Martin Hetschel on Saturday evening.

On Sunday, the first disappointment had passed and John started into the B-finals highly motivated once again. From 11th position he fought his way forward and just barely missed placing on the podium by coming in 4th. “It’s been an enjoyable ending for us. Our chassis has worked perfectly on wet conditions, high grip and sunshine,” rejoiced Hetschel.

Next to John Norris, Lucas Speck and Lisa-Christin Brunner started for the manufacturer from Brackenheim as well. But for Speck, the weekend was over before it had even really begun. The young Rhinelander was still dealing with a previous arm injury and decided not to participate in any more races after the first Heat. His team mate Lisa-Christin was not entirely fit as well. Even though she managed to constantly increase her performance throughout the weekend, an old rib injury got to her again and she passed on participating in the B-finals because of health reasons.

Martin Hetschel tried to build up his drivers afterwards: “No one can take away their experiences of driving on this great and challenging track now. We unfortunately cannot influence health. It’s been better for both of them to drop out when they did so they wouldn’t suffer further troubles.”

After the past stressful weeks the team will now take a short summer-break. The next race will take place from August 17th – 19th on the Hunsrückring/Hahn, where the DKM will be coming to stay for the fourth race of the season.

Mach1 Motorsport wins in KF3

It’s been an exciting racing weekend for Mach1 Motorsport at the fourth event of the ADAC Kart Masters in Liedolsheim. The drivers were especially motivated on the home track of the German Chassis manufacturer and Cedric Piro achieved his first KF3 victory while Lucas Speck is still favored to win the Championship title in KF2.

The team from Brackenheim had not gotten a long sit-down. Having come home fromBraga(Portugal), which is 2.000km away, on Tuesday, the next race took place only three days later. At the ADAC Kart Masters in Liedolsheim as many as eleven drivers started for the team.

The most successful driver was Cedric Piro in KF3. The youngster fromSaarlandfelt immediately comfortable on the track and secured the great fifth starting position during qualifying. During the Heats, he managed to stay out of all quarrels on the narrow and angular track and thus started into the first final race from the third starting row. This started moderately, because Cedric was pushed into off during a narrow bend-combination and fell back to the end of the field. During the remaining laps he gave it his all once again and satisfyingly came in 11th. During the second final he then managed to jump to the top. Due to a great catching up race he managed to overtake his strong competition and had every reason to rejoice in the evening: “Everything’s great! My kart worked perfectly and I was able to fully attack up until the last bend and was therefore able to achieve this victory.” In the overall list of rankings Cedric has now climbed to fourth rank and even has chances to achieve third place during the finals.

In KF2, Lucas Speck started as overall leader and proved his wits. He had the right speed to drive in the front field throughout the entire weekend, but he did not risk too much and came in 5th and 6th respectively. He therefore extended his position and can now look contently on a comforting cushion of 27 points prior to the season finals at the Prokart Raceland Wackersdorf. Teammate Manuel Valier fromMunichwas capable of winning as well. After having some bad luck in Kerpen recently, everything went smoothly in Liedolsheim and he fought his way to the great 8th and 4th positions during the ranked races. Manuel thereby achieved a great leap forward in the overall list of rankings and is now ranking fifth, with chances of achieving third place. Lisa-Christin Brunner finally experienced a racing weekend without any notable accidents. She ranked 22nd after the Heats and fought her way up to 18th place during the first final, thereby gaining championship points for the second time in a row. She then unfortunately had to end the second final prematurely.

At the shifter karts, Toni Greif continues to further the development of the Mach1 Kart and was eye to eye with the top drivers throughout the weekend. Toni showed a great performance in all races, on dry as well as wet tracks, and was rewarded with the third and fourth places respectively in the evening. In the list of rankings he is now on fourth position, only five points behind second place. “The work of the last couple of weeks is now paying off. We’re constantly increasing our performance and will hopefully be fighting for the final victory in Wackersdorf”, said Toni Greif contently and gleefully.

Six drivers started at the IAME X30 juniors and the IAME X30. Fastest driver of the finals was Alexander Heil in the IAME X30. After a questionable decision of the race director during warm-up on Sunday morning he was put from 7th qualifying position to the back of the field. Due to coming in 10th and a remarkable third during the second final, the multiple WAKC-Champion nevertheless experienced his most successful racing weekend of the ADAC Kart Masters and managed to achieve third place in the Championship as well. His teammates Baldur Bahn and Lukas Korsch did not have to hide either, seeing as both of them fought their ways to the top ten during the second final in the afternoon and came in 8th and 9th respectively. In contrast, Jan Jesse had really bad luck, because two fallings out caused him a zero round. Similar events happened at the juniors. Sebastian Schwendt gained championship points during the first run, then had a falling out during the second though. Junior teammate Axel Ausländer crossed the finish line of both races, but didn’t reach the outcome he had hoped for, by coming in 23rd and 24th respectively.

Team leader Martin Hetschel was highly content after successes in as many as four classes in the evening: “It couldn’t have gone much better. We achieved the first KF3 victory and were able to show that we are competitive in more than just KF2. Lucas has driven a clever race and is still in the running for the title. Additionally Toni, Alexander and Cedric still have the chance to enter the top three of the Championship during the finals. That would be a fantastic overall result.”

By crossing the finish line, the European tour continues for Mach1 Motorsport. The team will start at the KF2 European Championship finals in English Brandon as soon as Wednesday.
